GARLIC CHEESE NAAN BREAD

GARLIC CHEESE NAAN BREAD

Bread is a food which is part of every home. There are so many kinds of bread available all over the world. In Indo-Pak special kinds of flat bread are eaten like chapatti, roti, and naan.  Chapatti and roti are mostly very thin and made on griddle or traditional oven. Naan is also flat bread which is soft and fluffy and comparatively thicker than roti. One type of stuffed naan which I love to eat whenever I go to my favorite restaurant is garlic cheese naan. Soft, cheesy, garlicky, naan is an absolute joy to eat. It can be enjoyed alone with some yogurt sauce and it also complements any kind of gravy like butter chicken, mutton curry or mix vegetables.

Recipes you can try with same kind of dough:

Finger liking good prawn pizza

Delicious cinnamon twists

Coffee buns ( Papparoti style)

Strawberry cream cheese danish

garlic cheese naan

I personally think that it is not a wise decision to go and pay every time at restaurant to enjoy your favorite food. I made garlic cheese naan at home and found it better than restaurant. Garlic cheese naan recipe is very simple and basic. First we prepare dough and then filling. I have used generous egg wash on top of naan to give outer crust beautiful color and crisp. I have used garlic and coriander not only in filling but also mix them in melted butter to apply on top of naan. It gives beautiful aroma and richness to naan.

Can I make garlic cheese naan on griddle?

Making naan is pretty same as making roti on griddle. Prepare naan with fresh dough, Pre heat your griddle and spray some water on it (it helps naan to stick with griddle). Immediately put naan on it. When bubbles are formed on top, flip the griddle and cook upper part of naan on direct flame until nice golden color is gained. Apply butter, garlic, and coriander mixture on top of prepared naan.  Don’t apply egg wash while making naan on griddle.

Can I make garlic cheese naan in air fryer?

Yes absolutely, air fryer and baking oven serve same purpose. Some things are cooked better in baking oven and some in air fryer. To prepare naan in air fryer, its size  should be big enough to accommodate naan or if you have small air fryer then make small naans which fit well in it. rest of the process and time of cooking will be same.

Variations you can try:

  • I have used refined flour for making naan but you can also use whole wheat flour for it. Refined flour gives a smooth texture and white color to your naan while whole wheat naan is little hard and brown in color. But whole wheat is always healthier option.
  • You can sprinkle white and black sesame seeds and chili flakes on top of naan. You can mix them in butter and apply with brush on top. If you are spice lover then add some jalapeños on top also.
  • Cheese filling can also be experimented. We can mix potatoes and green chilies with cheese. I have used only mozzarella cheese for filling but you can mix cheddar cheese with it also.
