REFRESHING ORANGE SQUASH

REFRESHING ORANGE SQUASH

If you are also a DIY person like me then this refreshing orange squash recipe is for you. I love preserving seasonal fruits in various forms like strawberry jam, mango pickle, plum chutney, and apricot puree so that I can enjoy them off season. Orange squash is also a great way to enjoy refreshing orange drink in summers. Weather its orange juice or orange itself, it is the most refreshing fruit in any form and when this fruit is in season I try to utilise it maximum. My recipe of orange squash is free from any kind artificial colour, artificial flavour, and preservatives. Simply you have to cook orange juice and a little bit of lemon juice with sugar and your orange squash is ready. To enhance orange flavour in my squash, instead of using something artificial, I used orange peel. It has a lot of flavour in it but make sure you remove its inside white portion before using it. White potion in orange peel is bitter and it will make your whole squash bitter. Grind this peel with orange juice and then strain bfore mixing it with sugar.

Sugar also acts as preservative. when prepared, you can use this squash up to three months. If you don’t want to add refined sugar you can replace it with unrefined sugarcane sugar or brown sugar. If your oranges are sweet, then you can reduce the quantity of sugar. When you want to prepare drink from this squash you just have to add cold water in it and its ready. You can adjust quantity of water according to your taste. I personally like more diluted version of it because I think it refreshes you more but squash and water combo is totally upon your choice.
