SIZZLING BEEF STEAK WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE

Making beef steak is an art. From selection of meat to cutting, marinate, and cooking, everything needs skills. Love and madness for eating steak also urges you to strive for selecting everything best. Well, with the passage of time we realise which kind of meat, tenderness, and flavour we need. I personally love mildly spiced and medium done steak. Sizzling beef steak recipe which I am going to share with you is very simple to make and I guarantee you, after trying this steak, you will never go to restaurant for eating it. It is a perfectly spiced, medium done steak which everyone will love.

I have used meat of beef round portion for my steak. This portion is very soft and tender. Spices for marinade are very simple. Just salt, black pepper, mustard, and Wooster shire sauce. Cooked it in butter with garlic and rosemary until medium done. I think 80% people prefer medium rare to medium done steak. Well done steak is very hard to chew and rare done is almost raw. Sauce also play a very vital role in enhancing flavour of steak. I have made black pepper sauce which goes perfect with it.

Served with grilled veggies and dinner roll, this steak is a complete meal. You should also try my chicken steak with tarragon sauce. You can select portion of beef according to your preference. Weather it is T-bone, Tenderloin, Rib eye, or flank steak, you can apply same recipe to all kinds. Cook time may differ a bit but rest of recipe will be same. For rare done you need to cook only for 2 minutes each side, for medium, 4-5 minutes per side, and for well-done 7 minutes. Thickness of you steak also matters, cooking time varies with change in thickness.

Variations in beef steak

You can make a lot of variations according to your choice.

Sauce: various kind of sauces are served with steak. Mushroom sauce, black pepper sauce, white sauce, cheese sauce, and many more. I personally love black pepper sauce that’s why I made it but any kind of sauce goes well with this steak.

Veggies: there is no hard and fast rule for kind of veggies served with steak. You can choose veggies you love, grill them and enjoy with steak. Carrots, zucchini, broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, all these veggies make amazing combo with steak.

Mashed potatoes: mashed potatoes with cheese in them is mostly served with every steak. Whole baked potato with cheese in centre is also commonly served. I find these two things a little heavy to eat, but if you like, you can add them in your steak platter.

Steak serving: you can serve steak as a whole piece of meat or cut it into thin slices. I find cut slices more easy to eat rather than single meat piece. you can select your favourite style. Another thing is way of cooking. If you don’t want to make it in deep pan, you can grill it with same butter, garlic, and rosemary.

Ingredients

For steak marinade

  • 800 gm boneless beef piece cut in 1.5 inch slices
  • 1 and ½ tbsp Black peppercorns
  • 3 tbsp mustard paste
  • 3 tbsp Wooster shire sauce
  • 1 tbsp salt

For cooking steak

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 6-7 whole garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp rosemary

For sauce

  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • ½ tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp Black pepper
  • 200 ml milk

Vegetables

  • ½ cup zucchini cut in small pieces
  • ½ cup bell peppers cut in small pieces
  • ½ cup Chinese beans cut in small pieces
  • ¼ cup onion cut in small pieces

Instructions

  • Cut steak into 1.5 inch slices. This whole meat piece makes 5 slices.
  • Crush black peppercorns roughly in mortar and pestle.
  • Put pieces of meat in a bowl and add salt, mustard paste, crushed black pepper, and Wooster shire sauce.
  • Apply all ingredients well on pieces of steak, and marinate for 5 hours.
  • Heat up butter in a pan and add marinated pieces of steak in it. Cook on high flame for 5 minutes each side.
  • When beautiful red golden colour appears on outer crust, add cloves of garlic and rosemary. Cook steak for some time to infuse flavours of garlic and rosemary, and then take it out. Let cooked steak rest for 15 minutes before cutting.
  • Remove cloves of garlic from leftover butter in pan. Use same butter and pan we used for cooking steak, for making sauce as well. Add onion, garlic, flour, and crushed black pepper in butter. Roast all things in butter for some time.
  • Now add milk in pan and let it thicken. Turn off the flame when you get desired thickness of sauce.
  • Cut all vegetables of your own choice. Dice half onion as well for later use.
  • Put some oil in pan and add vegetables except onion. fry veggies for 3 minutes, add little salt and black pepper as well.
  • Cut steaks into thin slices. heat up your serving sizzling tray for 2 minutes. Add little oil on tray and put sliced onions in it. When onions start sizzling add steak, sauce, veggies, and a dinner role in tray to serve.
